First-language explanations when learners are stuck
Learners at pre-entry and entry levels often lose momentum when an instruction or grammar point doesn't make sense in English. The assistant can explain in Somali, Swahili or Amharic, then bring the learner back to practising in English. Other languages can be configured.
Next steps into work and further learning
The skills assistant helps learners with the language of work: talking through a CV, working through a cover letter and practising interview answers. It gives learners a place to prepare for their next step, alongside your careers and progression support.
Built for learners' own phones
The assistant runs in a mobile browser and is designed for low-bandwidth connections, so there is nothing to install. Learners use the phone they already have.
Safeguarding and data protection
Safeguarding rules are configured for your provision, including the topics the assistant will and won't discuss. We support your data protection impact assessment and will answer your data protection questions before anything goes live.
How a pilot works
We suggest starting with one class for one term. Together we agree the success measures up front, such as attendance, completion of practice between sessions, or progress on the targets you set. Configuration to your materials typically takes about 30 days. You judge it on your own learners.
